Despite the fact that the world is still battling with Coronavirus, another deadly virus, Orthohantavirus popularly referred to as Hantavirus, has hit China.
The virus is reported to have already killed a man from Yunnan Province.
He was on a chartered bus to Shandong Province for work on Monday when he fell and died, Global Times reported.
He was tested positive for Hantavirus while those other 32 people on the same bus with him were also tested.
Hantavirus is spread mainly by rodents.
Medical personnel said “Unlike the Coronavirus, the hantavirus in most cases does not transmit through the respiratory system. But the human excreta and blood of an infected patient can transmit the virus to humans.
In this virus the cases of human-to-human transmission of Hantavirus are rare.
Humans may become infected with Hantavirus if they come in contact with rodent urine, saliva, or faeces.
Like to COVID-19, the Hantavirus can severely damage patients’ liver, kidney and other organ functions and produce symptoms of fever and massive bleeding,
Early symptoms of the virus include fatigue, fever, and muscle aches, along with headache, dizziness, chills and abdominal problems.
Although, it can lead to coughing and shortness of breath and finally death if left untreated.
